Title: Director of Programs and Events
Reports to: Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and work experience
Location: HACR's offices in Washington, D.C.

The Director of Programs and Events is responsible for HACR’s annual programs and events, which support our efforts to accomplish our mission of promoting Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise all aspects of the development, planning, presentation, and evaluation of the organization’s annual events.
• Research sites for future organization programs and annual events and when necessary, travel to venues for pre-event site inspection visits.
• Negotiate contracts with hotel and conference facilities, as well as other event venues.
• Serve as the point of contact for consultants and vendors relative to the organization’s programs and annual events.
• Ensure expenses for organization’s programs and annual events remain within established budgets and, if necessary, implement cost-saving alternatives.
• Develop a recruitment and retention strategy for program participation and event attendance.
• Develop an evaluation framework to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the organization’s programs and annual events and determine opportunities for improvement and increased effectiveness.
• Work with Development team to ensure that database records and corporate member contact information is current, and to ensure program-related sponsorship deliverables are provided. 
• Assist Director of Corporate Development in implementing organization’s corporate relations strategy, including serving as a point of contact for corporate members when necessary.
• Work with Communications team to develop marketing and event materials for programs and annual events, and on AV related needs for all HACR programs.
• Work with all members of the HACR team to develop new programs, includes content development, audience identification, and potential sponsorship opportunities.
• Supervise and direct staff/intern.
• Perform other duties/responsibilities as assigned.


• A bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality management, public relations, or a relevant field along with 3-5 years of practical experience in the field is required, some nonprofit experience is preferred.
• Leadership skills are also required for directing staff and overseeing project implementation, management, and completion.

These requirements may change to meet the business needs of the organization.

Additional qualifications include:

• Have experience in meeting planning, fundraising, and public relations for a wide range of events – from small meetings to large conferences.
• Superior project management, time management, presentation, and planning skills are essential.
• Ability to coordinate, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast–paced environment.
• Have experience in managing budgets and negotiating with vendors.
• Confident and comfortable interacting with a diverse group of individuals from all sectors of the community including C-suite level executives at Fortune 500 companies.
• Be knowledgeable of event registration, database, and CRM software.
• Experience with Cvent, Salesforce, and Qualtrics a plus. 
• Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 
• Have a high level of professionalism and discretion with handling confidential information.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in information technology, social media, and audio/visual.
• Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
• Have experience managing staff (direct-reports, interns, volunteers).
• Team player and effective collaborator with staff, consultants, and vendors.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
