Valerie M. Reyes
Director of Programs and Initiatives
Valerie M. Reyes is director of Programs and Initiatives. Under this capacity, Reyes oversees the coordination of HACR event meetings including but not limited to: HACR Annual Symposium, HACR/Harvard Business School Governance Program and the HACR/HBS Alumni, Corporate Executive Briefings with Corporate Members, and HACR Board meetings and annual retreat.
Professional Experience
Prior to this position, Reyes was manager, Corporate Relations overseeing a wide variety of development programs and external relations efforts that supported the organization's funding and relationship strategies. She also served as primary coordinator of corporate partner communications.
Formerly, Reyes was Operations Manager, Office of the President. She was responsible for overseeing a variety of office operations procedures and functioned as the external representative of the president and CEO.
Reyes began her professional career at HACR as a research associate and prior to that she was an intern. As research associate, Reyes assisted the research director in conducting, developing, and publishing the highly popular and impactful HACR Governance, the HACR Best Practices, and the "Hispanics Today" studies. In addition, she helped develop financial and background reports on HACR corporate partners for use by the board in conducting annual reviews and use by staff in marketing HACR membership. Under this position, Reyes also co-authored an article for Latina Style magazine titled "One in a Million," in which she interviewed Hispanic board of directors women of FORTUNE 1,000 companies on their successes, struggles, and advice to young and aspiring Hispanic women.
As an intern, Reyes was responsible for research analysis and report writing for the HACR Governance Study. In addition, she provided administrative support for the staff; performed a variety of duties including database creation and up keeping; and prepared correspondence for the president and CEO.
Education
Reyes is currently enrolled in the George Washington University Events Management Certificate Program. She is a graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.
