Gonzalez Convention Center in beautiful downtown San Antonio. The press conference will take place at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, May 11 at Our Lady of the Lake University’s Sueltenfuss Library, Community Room.

HACR Laments The Passing of Board Member Irma Flores Gonzales

It is with extreme saddness that the HACR Family learned of the passing of Irma Flores Gonzalez a true leader and advocate for the Hispanic community. Irma had been the board designee from the National Council of La Raza to the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility. She passed away on December 24 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, surrounded by her beloved family.
New National Council of La Raza Report Recommends Solutions to Latino Financial Education Disparity

According to a new report released by National Council of La Raza, the largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., translating financial education materials often is not adequate in motivating Latinos to form relationships with financial institutions. Made possible by a grant from The Allstate Foundation, the new report titled Financial Education in Latino Communities: An Analysis of Programs, Products, and Results/Effects finds that the U.S. financial industry has failed to connect with Hispanics and many low-income families via financial education products and services.
The ASPIRA Association and AOL(r) Latino Announce Joint Initiative to Empower Latino Communities through the Internet

Timer Warner Inc. Partners with HACU for new Hispanic Scholarship Program

Global media and entertainment giant Time Warner Inc. awarded the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities $300,000 over three years to provide scholarships to students attending HACU member campuses. The first 34 recipients -- undergraduate students in Arizona, California, Florida, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas and Puerto Rico -- were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship under the new HACU/Time Warner Scholarship Program.
