The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) Board of Directors announced the selection of Carlos F. Orta as its president and CEO.

“We are pleased to welcome Carlos to the organization and the HACR family,” said Alma Morales Riojas, HACR Board Chairwoman.“His extensive experience with the U.S. Hispanic community, corporate America, and legislative affairs brings to HACR an essential balance of professional skills.His experience will be a key component to help HACR strengthen its advocacy efforts to increase inclusion of Hispanics at all levels in corporate America, to value and grow Hispanics as consumers, and to increase corporate philanthropic efforts benefiting the Hispanic community.”

“I am pleased and honored to have been selected to lead HACR,” said Orta. “I am looking forward to working with the HACR Board and staff to address many of the most critical issues affecting the U.S. Hispanic community and corporate America: the integration of the nation’s fastest-growing population and consumer market into a relationship of mutual benefit with a clear focus on the four areas that form the foundation of the organization: employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance.”

Mr. Orta most recently served as director of Community Outreach, Western Region for Anheuser-Busch, Inc.He was responsible for the company’s Latino community outreach, which included developing and maintaining relationships with new and emerging community leaders and directing corporate, philanthropic, and media related contributions throughout the region to local and regional community-based organizations.

Prior to Anheuser-Busch, he served in a variety of capacities at Ford Motor Company in the Corporate Affairs Division.He began his career at Ford as Assistant Regional Manager for Government Relations in Atlanta, GA and served as Manager, Civic Affairs and Public Policy with the Ford Motor Company Fund. His last assignment was as Regional Governmental Affairs Manager for the Southwest Region, based in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mr. Orta’s public sector experience includes legislative positions with two former members of the Florida House of Representatives.He was also the executive director of Miami-Dade County’s Legislative Delegation, the state’s largest and most diverse bi-partisan legislative delegation, comprised of 27 members.

During the past 18 years, he has been active in the various communities in which he has resided through volunteerism and service on boards, panels and committees of local, regional and national community-based organizations.

A Miami, Florida native, Mr. Orta is a graduate of Barry University with a degree in Liberal Studies.
