Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Association (LISTA) announced that ING Americas and Latin America Group’s Chief Information Officer David Gutierrez as “CIO of the Year 2006.”

"David should be duly recognized and lauded for his accomplishments," said Jose Marquez-Leon, President/CEO of LISTA. "Bestowing this award upon him is a privilege and a duty. He has shown a level of perseverance and insightfulness that serves as a fine example to his peers, up and coming Latino technology professionals as well as the Latino community and youth of today. It is our emphatic opinion that he is a true leader of our community and should be commended as such."

LISTA mission is to educate, motivate, and encourage the use of technology to empower the Latino community and conquer the Digital Divide.

David Gutierrez has been based in Atlanta since February 2001 with the ING Latin America Group in the position of chief information officer. On January 1st, 2004 he also assumed the position of chief information officer for ING Americas. Gutierrez joined ING from Aetna International Inc. where he was vice president Information Systems. At ING Gutierrez’s focus is on creating synergy between IT teams in the six countries that make up ING Insurance Americas (Canada, U.S.A. Mexico, Peru, Chile and Brazil) to avoid duplication, reduce costs and improve system delivery.
