Ford Motor Company and Joe Dumars' Detroit Pistons have shared a common goal in recent years: to return to the position of industry leader. In his team's run to the 2004 NBA World Championship, Dumars demonstrated the best formula for success by fusing various talents, backgrounds and experiences into a unified team. Ford endorses this strategy and will join forces with Joe Dumars to recognize diversity in the workplace during its fifth annual Global Diversity and Worklife Summit, "The Power of Fusion: Unifying the Energy of Diverse Talent."
On Tuesday, Sept. 14, keynote speakers Joe Laymon, group vice president of Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs, and Joe Dumars, Detroit Pistons legend and current President of Basketball Operations, will address Ford employees in a session focusing on fusion and its importance both on the basketball court and at work. Ford Motor Company will also honor 23 teams and individuals from various organizations throughout the world who have demonstrated leadership in diversity and worklife.
"Diversity is an integral component to the success of our Company. The purpose of this event is to explore new ways to merge the various talents we have at Ford Motor Company and create a winning team, much like Joe Dumars did with his World Champion Detroit Pistons," said Joe Laymon. "We are continuously making strides to enhance the culture at Ford by creating an environment that fosters this behavior."
"I'm excited about the opportunity to speak at Ford Motor Company's fifth annual Global Diversity and Worklife Summit," added Joe Dumars, Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations. "Team diversity and cohesiveness fueled our drive to the 2004 NBA Championship."
From now through September 22, thousands of Ford employees will participate worldwide in summit events that underscore the importance of global diversity.
