On May 25, Denny’s elected Michael Montelongo to its board of directors. Montelongo is an alumnus of the 2004 HACR/HBS Executive Education Program on Corporate Governance. He currently is the senior vice president for strategic marketing at Sodexho, Inc., an international provider of food and facilities management services. He was also principal adviser to the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff and other senior Air Force officials for budgetary and fiscal matters.

“Michael’s appointment to the Denny’s board is very well deserved-he is a unique talent and holds impeccable credentials. His appointment also underscores the fact that the U.S. Hispanic community continues to make meaningful inroads within the critical decision making centers of corporate America” said Alfonso E. Martinez president and CEO of HACR.

Montelongo entered the government service in 1977 as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and completed the U.S. Army Ranger School at Fort Benning, GA, in 1978. He then served in line and staff positions, from platoon to Department of the Army levels, at varied U.S. and overseas posts. In 1996, he entered private industry with BellSouth Telecommunications, and later became a sales executive and consultant with Cap Gemini Ernst and Young.

Born and raised in the Lower East Side of New York City, Montelongo is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY; Harvard Business School, Boston, MA; and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS.
