Lagomasino Named CEO of Asset Management Advisors |

Maria Elena Lagomasino has been named chief executive officer of Asset Management Advisors, LLC (AMA).AMA, an affiliate of SunTrust Banks, Inc., is one of the nation’s leading multi-family offices providing independent advice to families of substantial wealth.
“As one of the most highly recognized and regarded executives in wealth management, most recently as head of $300 billion in assets at JP Morgan Private Bank, Maria Elena Lagomasino’s experience and understanding of global, complex business environments will be invaluable to the company,” said Rima K. Matsumoto, executive director of HACR. “Having a Latina in a c-level position at a leading wealth management company is an encouraging sign for both women and Hispanics and we look forward to her continued leadership as a role model in the community.”

Lagomasino was most recently chairman and chief executive officer of JP Morgan Private Bank, one of the largest private banks in the world. She began her career in banking at Citibank in 1977.Lagomasino joined the Chase Manhattan Private Bank in 1983 as vice president and team leader for Latin America. She was named head of Chase’s worldwide private banking business in 1997. Following the Chase-JP Morgan Merger, she was named head of combined private banking operations, under the banner of JP Morgan Private Bank.
Lagomasino serves on the boards of The Coca-Cola Company and Avon Products, Inc., as well as the Lincoln Center Theatre. She is a trustee of the Synergos Institute and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. In November 2005, Lagomasino was appointed to help lead an effort to secure private sector funds to aid disaster victims in Central America.
