Carlos F. Orta Named President and CEO of The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility |

Washington, March 23, 2006 – The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) Board of Directors today announced the selection of Carlos F. Orta as its president and CEO.
“I am very pleased to welcome Carlos to the organization and the HACR family,” said Alma Morales Riojas, chairwoman of HACR.“Carlos extensive experience with the Hispanic community, corporate America, and in the legislative affairs field brings the right balance for the organization.This will be a key component as HACR continues to strengthen its advocacy role based on objective research on the inclusion of Hispanics at all levels in corporate America.”
“I am very grateful to the HACR Board of Directors for having placed their trust in my ability to successfully lead this organization,” said Carlos F. Orta, president and CEO of HACR.“I am looking forward to working together with the HACR Board and its staff to tackle some of the most important issues affecting the Hispanic community and corporate America in the areas of employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance – the four pillars that form the foundation of the organization.”
Since 2004, Mr. Orta served as director of Community Outreach for the Western Region for Anheuser-Busch, Inc.He was responsible for the company’s Latino community outreach, which included developing and maintaining relationships with new and emerging community leaders; directing corporate, philanthropic, and media related contributions throughout the region; and recommending funding levels for local and regional community-based organizations.
Prior to 2004, Mr. Orta served at a variety of levels for Ford Motor Company in its Corporate Affairs Division.He started his career at Ford as an assistant regional manager for Government Relations, based in Atlanta.He was then promoted to manager, civic affairs and public policy, at the Ford Motor Company Fund.
Mr. Orta’s career in the public sector began as a legislative staffer for two former members of the Florida House of Representatives.He was also the executive director of Miami-Dade County’s Legislative Delegation, the state’s largest and most diverse bi-partisan legislative delegation, comprised of 27 members.
During the past 18 years, Orta has been extremely active in the communities where he has resided through his volunteer and service on numerous boards, panels, committees of local, regional and national community-based organizations.
Carlos is originally from Miami, Florida, and a graduate of Barry University with a degree in Liberal Studies.
