AOL JOINS HACR AS A NEW CORPORATE MEMBER

The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) announces its newest corporate member, AOL, Inc. AOL adds its name to a growing list of companies committed to the inclusion and advancement of Hispanics in all areas of their business.

“We are proud to be a new member of HACR’s corporate family,” said Tiane Mitchell Gordon, AOL’s Senior Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion. “At AOL, our concept of team –the ultimate metaphor for diversity and inclusion—extends beyond our employees to include our suppliers, community and philanthropic partners. Our partnership with HACR demonstrates our commitment to bringing diverse perspectives into our workplace. We encourage innovation in order to build the highest quality content for our consumers as well as the best products and services for our advertisers and publishing partners.”

AOL has always been committed to making diversity and inclusion a sustainable reality at all levels of the company. AOL’s definition of diversity and inclusion goes beyond a traditional view of race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and age.

"HACR is pleased to welcome AOL as our newest corporate member," said HACR President and CEO Carlos F. Orta. “We look forward to partnering with AOL and working with it’s senior management on their commitment to Hispanic inclusion at all levels of the company.”

About AOL:

The company was founded in 1985 as Quantum Computer Services and launched its first online service – Q-LINK – on the Commodore 64 the same year. The name “America Online” was originally proposed in an employee contest and the company officially became America Online, Inc., commonly called AOL, in 1991. In 2006, the company officially changed its name to AOL and began offering its content and services free of charge to Web users. AOL became an independent, public company on December 10, 2009.
