The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility Launches The HACR Research Institute |

| Published on March 19, 2004 |
The HACR Research Institute functions as the independent research arm of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility. The Institute is devoted to objective research, analysis and publication of Hispanic-related issues in corporate America.
The Institute focuses its research in the areas of corporate governance, workforce and employment, corporate philanthropy, procurement, economics, and demographics. The goal of the Institute's activities is to offer insight into the condition of Hispanic inclusion and stimulate discussion on Hispanic inclusion in corporate America.
"Our brand promise to Fortune 1,000 companies is based on objectivity and action," said Alfonso E. Martinez, president and CEO of HACR. "We believe that whenever we take a position on an issue that centers around any of our four planks - employment, procurement, philanthropy, and governance - our position will be grounded in factual and convincing research. The HACR Research Institute will be our instrument to present the best rationale for Hispanic inclusion in corporate America."
The Institute will feature a robust Web site (to launch on April 15, 2004) where visitors can access the most recent findings on corporate governance, employment and corporate workforce, philanthropy and corporate giving, procurement, demographics and economics, and best practices. The Web site will feature dozens of research products--currently there are 30 research pieces available--from an extensive network of scholars and experts, and an area where scholars can propose their own research project to be published and accessible on the Institute's Web site. As part of member benefits, all of our corporate partners and coalition members will have immediate access to all of the research being featured on the Institute's Web site. Other organizations or companies wishing for copies of the research will be able to purchase them online.
Additionally, Fortune 1,000 companies can publish their best practices case studies under the Best Practices section by downloading a nomination form to highlight their best practices in employment, procurement, philanthropy, or governance. These reports have become vital tools for corporate America to look for ways to increase the diversity in its workforce, philanthropic contributions, supplier base, and boardroom make up.
"The HACR Research Institute will offer the highest quality of Hispanic market research available," said Fletcher P. Grundmann, senior director of research and government affairs of HACR. "HACR Research Institute is in a unique position to provide important research about the Hispanic market as it relates to the private sector in a way that will prove beneficial to the Hispanic community and corporate America."
The Institute is planning a research forum for later this year, that will bring together some of the country's leading Hispanic scholars, and regular contributors to the HRI Web site. More information about this forum will be available in the HACR Web site and through the HACR Corporate Alert during the coming months.
