The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) will host its 12th Annual Symposium: The Power of Hispanic Inclusion on May 10 and 11, 2004 at The Westin Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas.
This year, HACR is proud to announce that Symposium participants are now able to register online, find the latest on program details, and hotel information by visiting the HACR Web site.*
"Online registration will facilitate the overall logistics and planning of running an event of the magnitude of the HACR Symposium," said Alfonso E. Martinez, president and CEO of HACR. "Our goal was to make the process turnkey not only for the organization but also for the more than 300 people that attend this important event every year."
The HACR Symposium will focus on corporate governance and emphasize executive level board preparation and performance and include two business sessions highlighting the Hispanic market and corporate responsibility. For example, HACR president and CEO Alfonso E. Martinez will lead the business session titled, The Corporate Responsibility Imperative, which will feature a discussion on the business imperative and rationale supporting inclusive corporate environments, reputation management, brand development, and corporate activism.
Another session will present a case study that will illustrate the business case for successful private-public partnerships. The Hispanic Market Analysis session will present an expert review of the latest economic and demographic trends. Currently, there are more than 44 million Hispanics living in the United States making up half of the total U.S. population growth.
Insights For Board Preparation is the principal subject for the fourth business session. Hispanics are severely underrepresented in boardrooms across Fortune 1,000 companies. Panelists will share their experience as directors, researches, and practitioners and provide insights into preparing for board service and maintaining professional standards once inside a boardroom. Panelists will also review the current lack of Hispanic representation on corporate boards and offer insights into the board search practice, nomination procedure, and offer recommendations for the audience.
"We are excited about this year's HACR Symposium and the caliber of speakers addressing HACR's central themes of corporate governance and corporate responsibility," said Rima K. Matsumoto, senior director of development for HACR. "Leaders from institutions such as the Calvert Group, Center for Corporate Citizenship at The United States Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Corporate Directors, and The Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College will create a platform for rigorous discussions on issues affecting the Hispanic community."
