Former HACR President and CEO Confirmed as U.S. Treasurer

Anna Escobedo Cabral, former president and CEO of HACR, was recently confirmed as Treasurer of the United States.

"On behalf of HACR and its board of directors, I would like to congratulate Anna on her recent confirmation as U.S. Treasure," said Alfonso E. Martinez, president and CEO of HACR. "Her exemplary work at HACR paved the way for Hispanic inclusion in corporate America. We applaud President Bush's selection of Anna who is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion. We wish her all the best in her new endeavor."

Anna Escobedo Cabral currently serves as the director of the Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives. Prior to joining the Smithsonian in July 2003, Ms. Cabral was president and CEO of HACR, a post she held since 1999.

President Bush appointed Ms. Cabral to the President's Council on the 21st-Century Work Force, which provides guidance and advice to the President and the Secretary of Labor, in 2002. She is serving a two-year term (2002-2004) on the Diversity Council of the Premier Automotive Group, an enterprise of Ford Motor Company.

Ms. Cabral has served as deputy staff director of the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. In addition, she was the executive staff director of the U.S. Senate Republican Conference Task Force on Hispanic Affairs. Ms. Cabral managed this task force of 25 U.S. Senators dedicated to ensuring that Congress addressed the concerns and needs of the Hispanic community through legislation.

Ms. Cabral majored in Political Science at the University of California, Davis and earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
