Major General (ret.) Christopher Cortez is joining HACR Corporate Member Coors Brewing Company as area vice president designate reporting to Jeff Popkin, west region vice president of sales.

"Coors has been a dedicated member of the HACR corporate family for 20 years. We applaud Coos for the inclusion of preeminent Latino talent at all levels of the organizations," said Alfonso Martinez, president and CEO of HACR.

Cortez recently retired from The United States Marine Corps as the commanding general of Marine Corps Recruiting Command in Quantico, Virginia, where he was responsible for more than 3,300 Marine recruiters stationed across the country.

Throughout his more than 30 years of service in the Marine Corps, Cortez served in assignments ranging from Rifle Platoon Commander to Commanding General. His career highlights include: Rifle Company and Weapons Company Commander; Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion, 5th Marines during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and Commanding Officer, 3rd Marine Regiment.

"Chris is a proven leader with a strong history of achieving success at every level in the United States Marine Corp. It isn't often that a leader with the stature of Major General Chris Cortez joins a consumer package goods company," said Jeff Popkin. "Chris chose to come to CBC upon reflecting on our values, dedication to performance and inspired leadership. His terrific work ethic, goal oriented management style, established leadership, strategic skills as well as commitment to our vision and values will serve both CBC and Chris well."
