Eduardo Castro-Wright Named President and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, U.S.A.

On Friday, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. announced Eduardo Castro-Wright’s promotion to president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, U.S.A. Castro-Wright will be responsible for operations, merchandising, marketing, specialty divisions and new business development in the company’s U.S. stores, Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets.

“On behalf of the HACR Board of Directors, I would like to congratulate Mr. Castro-Wright on his appointment, as well as congratulate Lee Scott, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., for both bringing Eduardo to Wal-Mart and for this promotion,” said Alma Morales-Riojas, chairwoman of HACR.“Mr. Castro-Wright is a top notch proven executive who understands emerging markets, and as a Hispanic, he understands diversity is not just an initiative but a business imperative.Felicidades siempre.”

“Since coming to the United States six months ago as the chief operating officer, Eduardo’s passion and vision have helped us focus on how to serve our customers better while improving the performance and profitability of our stores,” said Lee Scott, president and CEO of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “In his role as president and CEO of Wal-Mart Mexico, Eduardo led the team to high standards of performance and growth.”

Prior to his appointment to president and CEO, Castro-Wright was executive vice president and chief operating officer for Wal-Mart Stores, U.S.A. heading Wal-Mart store operations and the Loss Prevention Division.

Castro-Wright joined Wal-Mart in 2001 as president and chief operating officer for Wal-Mart Mexico. In 2003, he was promoted to president and chief executive officer for Wal-Mart Mexico. Prior to his employment at Wal-Mart, Castro-Wright worked at Honeywell International Inc., where he held positions of president and chief executive officer of Honeywell Transportation and Power Systems Worldwide; and president of Honeywell Asia Pacific. In addition, Castro-Wright worked for Nabisco, Inc., in a variety of positions, including CEO of Nabisco Mexico and Venezuela, area president for Asia Pacific based in Singapore, and several general management positions in Latin America.
