The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) is proud to announce that Altria Group, Inc. and Aetna Inc. are the inaugural Founding Partners of the newly created HACR Research Institute (The Institute).
"With the support of Altria Group, Inc. and Aetna Inc., HACR will have the opportunity to reinforce its identity as an analytical and objective advocacy organization by seizing the uninhabited space of research around Hispanic inclusion in corporate America," said Alfonso E. Martinez, president and CEO of HACR.
The HACR Research Institute is the research arm of HACR. The Institute is devoted to objective research, analysis and publication focused on the Hispanic community and corporate America. The Institute focuses its research in the areas of employment, procurement, philanthropy and governance. The goal of the Institute's activities is to offer insights into the power of Hispanic inclusion and stimulate discussion on Hispanic inclusion in corporate America.
"Altria has long believed that business and people thrive in the same strong and generous environment that meets basic human needs and supports diversity, fairness, partnership and innovation," said A. Shuanise Washington, vice president, government affairs policy and outreach at Altria Corporate Services. "Since its inception, HACR has worked tirelessly to ensure the inclusion of Hispanics in corporate America so it was only natural that Altria and HACR should work together. The creation of the HACR Research Institute is an invaluable next step in HACR's path to success and we are proud to be a Founding Partner."
"Aetna has a long-term commitment to diversity and our goal is to integrate our diversity initiatives into all aspects of how we do business, including engaging a workforce that meets the needs of the changing marketplace. With Latinos playing an ever-increasing role in the U.S., we continue to build and sustain external relationships to promote Latino market growth and attract Latino talent," said Marilda Gándara, president of the Aetna Foundation."Our involvement with HACR is a good example of our efforts. This focus is not only good for business, it's the right thing to do and makes me proud to be a 26-year employee of Aetna."
