President of McDonald’s North America, Ralph Alvarez, was recently appointed to the board of directors of Fortune 500 company KeyCorp. KeyCorp is one of the nation’s largest bank-based financial services companies, providing investment management, retail and commercial banking, consumer finance, and investment banking products and services to individuals and companies.

“We would like to extend our most sincere congratulations to Ralph Alvarez on his appointment as director of KeyCorp’s board,” said Rima K. Matsumoto, executive director of HACR. “Mr. Alvarez is a highly regarded individual in the Hispanic community and in corporate America. It is encouraging to see that companies such as KeyCorp continue the search for new and independent directors to serve on their boards. As a result, the available pool of talented and experienced Hispanic directors continues to grow and this is precisely HACR’s objective.”

In his current position as the highest ranking Hispanic at McDonald’s, Alvarez is responsible for more than 15,000 McDonald’s restaurants in the United States and Canada. Prior to this position, Alvarez served as chief operating officer then president of McDonald’s USA. He joined McDonald’s in 1994 after a lengthy career in the quick service restaurant industry working for Burger King Corporation and Wendy’s International, Inc. Alvarez holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with honors from the University of Miami in Florida.
