USHCC Recognizes Irene Bustamante of MGM MIRAGE

Irene Bustamante, corporate diversity director at MGM MIRAGE (an HACR Corporate Member), was recognized for her advocacy of the Hispanic business community by the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) at its 36th Annual Convention and Business Expo in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bustamante received the Corporate Business Advocate of the Year award for her region (Region I).

Matsumoto, executive director of HACR. “For HACR’s partnership with MGM, Irene has been instrumental in ensuring MGM’s position as a corporate leader in diversity initiatives and best practices. She is a true testimony of leadership and a champion of the HACR mission.”

Bustamante began her career at MGM Grand Hotel-Casino Las Vegas in 1993 as a community affairs clerk and progressed rapidly through the ranks. In 2001, she was promoted to corporate diversity manager at MGM MIRAGE. In less than a year, she was named to her current position as corporate diversity director where she is responsible for managing the company’s relationships with its local and national strategic diversity partners.

Active in the community on a local and national level, Bustamante serves on the boards of the Latin Chamber of Commerce, the Nevada Minority Business Council, and the Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada.She also serves as the executive director of the Hope Worldwide-Las Vegas chapter, and is a member of the Executive Advisory Committee for the I Have a Dream Foundation, the Business Development Advisory Council for the Organization of Chinese Americans, and the USHCC’s Senior Executive Advisory Council. Bustamante is a Founding Member of the Southern Nevada Latina Network.
