HACR Names Interim President & CEO

The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) is pleased to welcome Frank D. Alvarez, a former president and CEO in the healthcare industry and at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, as HACR’s Interim President and CEO.

“With over 20 years of advocating and creating opportunities for the Hispanic community, Frank will use his experience to further strengthen HACR’s mission and provide a smooth transition to the organization’s next president & CEO,” Margaret Moran, HACR’s board chair and national president of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), said.

Alvarez, who won’t seek the position on a full-time basis, has agreed to serve in the interim position until HACR’s Board of Directors names a successor to Carlos F. Orta, who is leaving the organization on Friday, February 28. The search process, from accepting applications to selecting a new president and CEO, is expected to last between 60 and 90 days.

“Thank you Margaret and HACR’s Board of Directors for this wonderful opportunity to lead one of the most influential Hispanic advocacy organizations in the United States,” Alvarez said. “I look forward to working with all of HACR’s corporate members, partners, and sponsors as we head to San Diego for the organization’s 2014 annual programs to further strengthen HACR’s mission with a rapidly growing Hispanic demographic.”

A native of Los Angeles, Alvarez most recently served as president and CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, the nation’s largest Hispanic nongovernmental scholarship organization awarding $30 million annually to high achieving, low income Hispanics throughout the United States.

Alvarez also has an extensive background in the healthcare industry while serving as president and CEO of TMC HealthCare, a regional Healthcare Corporation serving southern Arizona and northern Mexico. Additionally, Alvarez served as president and CEO of the Maricopa Integrated Health System under contract with Quorum Health Services, Brentwood, TN.

Alvarez, similar to his father before him, is proud to have served honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces.
