Robert E. Sanchez Named President & CEO of Ryder

The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) congratulates Robert E. Sanchez on his appointment to President & CEO of Ryder System, Inc., a Fortune 500 company that specializes in transportation and supply chain management solutions.

Sanchez, a 20 year veteran at Ryder, takes over for Gregory T. Swienton, who is retiring after serving nearly 14 years in the position.

Before this appointment, Sanchez served in several senior executive leadership positions at Ryder, including finance, operations, and information technology. Furthermore, he’s been a member of the company’s executive leadership team since 2003 and recently held the position of president and chief operating officer. As part of Ryder’s succession plan approved by its board of directors, Sanchez will become Chairman and CEO at the company’s annual shareholders meeting in early May.

“On behalf of HACR’s Board of Directors, we congratulate Robert Sanchez on this remarkable achievement,” HACR’s President & CEO Carlos Orta said. “We look forward to Robert’s participation this April at HACR’s Corporate Achievers Summit and Corporate Directors Summit™.”

Sanchez, who worked as an engineer at both Florida Power and Light and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft before joining Ryder in 1993, earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Finance. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Computer Science from the University of Miami.
