HACR Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers Honored

HACR recognized 26 ‘Fortune 500’ professionals at 2nd annual event.

Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2008) – The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) — a coalition of the nation’s most influential community-based organizations — honored 26 professional executives at its 2nd annual HACR Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers™ (YHCA) program. Corporate sponsors of the program include Altria Group, Ford Motor Company, and MillerCoors.

Candidates from across the country were nominated by their respective companies and selected after a review of the candidates’ accomplishments, established leadership qualities, industry expertise, education and employment experiences, as well as a demonstrated commitment to their communities. The candidates are between 25-40 years of age, of Hispanic heritage and employed by a Fortune 500 company or HACR Corporate Member company.

“The list of Fortune 500 companies represented are as diverse as the talents each of these current and future leaders bring to their jobs each day,” said HACR President & CEO Carlos Orta. “We believe that a company’s success will be increasingly determined by the diverse talent they recruit into their management teams, which is why we developed the HACR YHCA program to highlight the progress being made by a growing number of corporations.”

Hispanics represent more than 14 percent of the U.S. population and one out of every eight employees in the nation’s labor force — it is also the largest and fastest-growing non-white population in the United States. For the private sector, this growth translates into an estimated purchasing power of $1-trillion. HACR’s mission is to advance the inclusion of Hispanics in Corporate America at a level commensurate with our economic contributions.

This annual leadership program recognizes young Hispanic achievers at Fortune 500 companies. Upon selection as a HACR YHCA, these individuals will not only have been formally recognized by their company and HACR, but will act as role models for young, aspiring Hispanics nation-wide.
